Southern Methodist University Builds In-demand Creative and AI Skills by Providing Every Student with Adobe Express

In September, Southern Methodist University (SMU) took a bold step forward to empower the next generation with career-ready skills. Located in Dallas, Texas, the private research institution gave all its 10,000+ students access to Adobe Express.

In addition, the university demonstrated its commitment to academic leadership by adding Adobe Acrobat AI Assistant to its Adobe Creative Cloud Pro licenses for all faculty and staff.

Powerful tools for visual communication and research insights

With quick and easy design tools, professionally designed templates, and features powered by Adobe Firefly generative AI in Adobe Express, SMU students can create presentations, data visualizations, podcasts, and videos to elevate their assignments. They can design polished resumes, portfolios, and LinkedIn banners to impress hiring managers. And they can bring any idea to life in images and graphics by writing simple text prompts.

With Acrobat AI Assistant, faculty and staff have the tools to accelerate and deepen their research while streamlining day-to-day tasks. They can get one-click summaries of documents to quickly digest key points. Ask documents questions and get answers with citations linked to sources within the documents for verification. Generate customizable syllabi and study guides. Simplify grant proposal reviews. And more.

Students tackling real-world business challenges with Adobe Express

SMU business school students are already bringing their generative AI content strategy, creative skills, and business principles together in high-impact projects.

The Cox School of Business recently partnered with Truist Bank and Adobe to host virtual design thinking workshops in which students developed solutions to improve the Truist website experience. Students used Adobe Express to create web page mockups and professional presentations to share pitches to Truist executives, showcasing their ability to navigate the complexities of the modern brand marketing landscape.
